“Seasons of Meaninglessness”
I’ve gone through seasons in my life when I’ve felt like what I was pouring my energy into at that time was unfulfilling or meaningless. I could totally identify with the writer of Ecclesiastes when he lamented, “What do people gain from all of their labors at which they toil under the sun?” (1:3), even if I wasn’t exactly laboring or toiling. The problem with this thinking was the failure to recognize the value in where I was.
In Philippians 4:11 the Apostle Paul shared that in whatever season he was, he had learned to be content. In all of the circumstances in which Paul found himself, his contentment came from recognizing Christ where he was. Every season here on earth might not always seem meaningful to me, but if I realize that it is Christ led, then there is always going to be an eternal gain.
